Children's Story: Toys at School
STORY FOR 6 MAY 2007 STORY:: This story was written in response to the readings from John13:31-35 and Acts 11:1-18. While the story about Peter's vision may be too abstract for the little ones, and the "Love one another" something always talked about.... maybe this will help.
TOYS AT SCHOOL::: By Niki Vella Power In the middle of the night, right on twelve o’clock, the toys in the enchanted rumpus room would all come to life and they would go to school just like regular girls and boys. There was teddy and Humphrey, Barbie and twinkle, sparkle, drama queen and Denise. Teddy was very popular and everyone wanted to be his friend. The others all played quite happily together except for Denise. The teacher quietly took teddy aside and said to him, “Please Teddy, will you play with Denise today” Teddy complained, “But she’s icky and strange with a freckly face and if I play with her it would be a disgrace. Every one else, when they see me will “boo” and they will think that I am icky and strange too.” “Well Teddy”, said the teacher “have you looked at yourself recently – you’re pretty much just a worn out old Teddy anyway.” |
Teddy sulked, but he kind of went and stood somewhere near Denise that lunch time. He wasn’t very happy and he didn’t really talk much but more or less just stood there.
Suddenly a strange car pulled up at the enchanted class room. It was a solid golden stretch limo. Out of it stepped a huge Lion king.
Teddy had never seen a Lion king before. He was very frightening and believe me, you’d be frightened too.
The Lion king came closer and closer to where Teddy stood. Teddy’s knees were knocking hard as he trembled, wondering what was going to happen next.
Suddenly the Lion leapt into a powerful run straight toward Teddy….. And just then the Lion King swooped up Denise in his arms and hugged her.
Denise and the Lion laughed and Teddy just watched with his mouth gaping in amazement.
“Hi there Teddy” said the Lion “I have to go away on important royal business again, but I hope that you can be a friend to my daughter Denise and try to cheer her up while I’m gone”
“y…Y…Yes sir” stammered Teddy.
